Sessions were catered to developers of varying development levels. Details of the sessions as follow:
The BlackBerry Opportunity
In these sessions, attendees were introduced to the vantage points of building on the BlackBerry platforms. They learned how to harness the power of Cascades, BlackBerry’s rich native UI framework that enables developers to create powerful new graphical elements with ease. They also learned about the deep HTML5 support which offers best-in-class performance and rendering and how to take web apps beyond the browser with the HTML5 WebWorks framework. Developers found out how they could quickly and easily port and package C/C++ games, Android and Flash apps for deployment on BlackBerry App World.
Introduction to Cascades
In this dynamic, high energy lab, developers installed the tools necessary to develop native applications for the BlackBerry® 10 platform. They learned how to build a simple application using the Qt environment with C++ and QML. Attendees also ran through the process of building, debugging and running their application on a device.
Introduction to building BlackBerry 10 Apps Using the BlackBerry WebWorks SDK
This workshop brought developers a hands-on experience in developing their first BlackBerry® 10 app using the BlackBerry® WebWorks™ SDK. This lab covered how to install the development environment and build your first app. Attendees were introduced to how they could further enhance their web applications by integrating them with device capabilities such as HTML5 features and BlackBerry WebWorks APIs.
