The Cyber Security Law of the People’s Republic of China took effect on June 1, 2017. As the first specific law on cyber security, it has received very close attention from affected industries and societies, both domestic and foreign. It is the first piece of specific legislation that defines the overarching framework and requirements for cyber security and personal data protection in China. It is a major milestone in regulating the cyberspace in China, and will have profound impact to the digital transformation and development of cloud solutions, IoT, and Big Data just to name a few.
