Student essay competition to explore Innovative uses of mobile NFC

University students invited to investigate innovative uses for mobile NFC technologies

NFC is a contactless radio technology that makes life easier and more convenient for consumers around the world by providing a simple way to make transactions, exchange digital content and connect electronic devices with just a touch. Huge progress has been made towards making commercial NFC services a reality and NFC phones available for consumers to purchase. The potential for careers in mobile NFC applications and products is extensive, from developing payment system applications to creating chips that will enable upcoming NFC-based products. However, bringing NFC services to market could be extremely complex. The journey to an NFC-enabled future is gaining momentum however many business models are still untested and awareness of the potential of this innovative is restricted to technology early adopters and innovators.

New and creative ideas will help to create services and allow ecosystems expansion of mobile NFC use. For the first time, Mobile Asia Expo is inviting undergraduate students from across Shanghai to contribute to the future of NFC by investigating opportunities for current and prospective uses of mobile NFC in every day applications.

University students are asked to submit essays of up to 500 words that investigate innovative solutions that use mobile NFC technologies. Entries will close 23:59 CST on 10 June 2013. Finalist essays will be reviewed and ranked by a three-person judging panel who will identify the overall winner. The winning submission, student and university will be announced during Mobile Asia Expo. The winning student will receive a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Mobile Asia Expo Conference Pass.
